Open Swim

Swimming in a deep, refreshing natural quarry is the perfect way to cool off in the summer. Located about thirty minutes north of Charlotte, The Quarry at Carrigan Farms is an oasis. For more information please read the frequently asked questions page.
Swimming works up an appetite and the restaurant at open swim serves delicious, farm-fresh favorites like grilled hamburgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, scratch-made pizza, veggie burgers, fresh salads, fruit cups, ice cream and snow cones, as well as fresh items that change daily. Beer and wine are also available for purchase. Please note that no outside food or beverages may be brought to open swim. You can find the menu for Open Swim here.
Safety comes first and lifeguards are on duty during open swim. Additionally, everyone must wear a life jacket unless they have passed the swim test. Life jackets are provided or you may bring your own. Children that are under two years old or who weigh less than thirty pounds are not advised to swim in the quarry because our smallest life jackets are designed for children weighing thirty pounds or more.
Only those twelve years old or older may take the swim test. The swim test assesses endurance, treading, quality of stroke, and level of comfort in the water, among other attributes. Fishing:
Customers with an open swim reservation can enjoy catch-and-release fishing at our two farm ponds during open swim. The ponds have bass, bream and crappie. Fishing is not permitted in The Quarry, or at non-open swim times. All fishing is catch-and-release, meaning that the fish cannot be taken home and must be returned to the pond. Be sure to bring your own gear.
Directions:
The farm has multiple entrances. Open swim guests should be sure to enter at the Carrigan Farms West Entrance to get to the quarry. The address for GPS purposes is 1213 Oak Ridge Farm Hwy, Mooresville, NC 28115.
What To Bring / What to Expect:
Everyone is required to have a signed waiver prior to entry. Children must have a parent or guardian complete their waiver. Once you make your reservation, the link to fill out your waiver is included in the confirmation email. If you have additional guests in your reservation, just forward them the confirmation email with the link to the waiver. The waiver will be linked to your reservation and will be checked upon arrival. Also, be sure to bring a towel, sunblock, swim suit, water shoes (tevas, crocs, chacos, or flip flops that can get wet, etc), sunglasses, hat, blanket or chair in a bag and cash. Both the admission and restaurant are cash only.
Online Reservation Details:
Guests who reserve in advance pay a non-refundable $5 per person deposit at the time of reservation. The remaining portion of admission is due when reserved guests arrive at the farm. Note that only cash is accepted at the door. No credit or debit cards are accepted. Requests to modify or cancel a reservation must be received at least 24 hours prior to the start time of your event to be considered.
Out of Town Guests:
If you’re coming from out of town, the Mooresville area has nice restaurants, plentiful hotels and other activities.
What NOT to Bring:
No outside food or beverage is permitted at open swim. Also, please don’t bring pets, rafts sized for more than one person, paddle boards, kayaks or boats. Please don’t bring portable speakers; there is music playing throughout the quarry. Only cash is accepted for payment. Also, the farm is tobacco free.
Weather/Rain:
Summer weather forecasts often include a chance of rain. We will be open rain or shine. If we close for severe weather, we will notify reserved guests via email. Note: we do not offer rain checks, this means if we close early for rain, we will not offer refunds or passes for another day.

Im writing this review almost a full year late, but I’m about to go there again this summer.Absolutely one of the greatest places to go in the summer. They’ve thought of literally everything. They provide life jackets, a swim test (this is SO IMPORTANT and I appreciate it so much!), food, water, shelter if you want to spend a tad extra. I recommend this place to everyone since the Charlotte area doesn’t have any water parks.Fair warning - these platforms you can jump off of are HIGH. If you’re scared of heights this will be the most exhilarating experience if you decide to take the plunge and jump off the high platform. Work on your pull ups if you want to do the rope swing (which is equally as high). Your feet will likely hurt when you land but I promise it’s worth it!!

Gorgeous wedding venue where you get married infront of a waterfall on a huge rock. At night they light up the rocks with different colors; reminded me of Disneyland.

Strawberry picking begins in late April. Open swim begins in late May and is available all summer. Apple picking begins in September. The pumpkin patch and haunted trail are open in October and we are currently taking reservations for weddings, company picnics and Christmas parties.
