What the subject says… my girl is now rolling onto her tummy every time she wakes at night, then gets stuck there and fusses. She actually did fall asleep on her tummy for the first time at 6 am but I freaked out and woke her up.
Thoughts?

Absolutely. I know it can be freaky but in my experience, once they roll onto their belly they’re ready to sleep that way (should they desire). But I do remember my daughter getting stuck on her belly for a few weeks and it causing a lot of wake ups. My son seems to be more comfortable there but might eventually fuss if he wants to flip and is having trouble (sleep sack probably makes it more difficult but we tried sleeping without it and he wasn’t having it).

@BarbieBoomBox,
thank you!! I hope we get to a point where she can eventually figure it out! Right now, it is a few more wake ups but she will get there.

@BarbieBoomBox,
if it makes you feel any better, my son who just turned 2 on July 21st 2024, wore a sleep sack until 22 months old lol.
He was climbing out his crib with one on and everything!!
So he will eventually get used to flipping and everything with the sack on :)

@missrosebud,
this is so reassuring! Because we are regressing in terms of sleep stretches because of the rolling, so I hope this is some hope that we can get good sleep back.

Yes! My baby girl rolled for the first time during a day time nap and started crying, so I ran in and rolled her back over. After that, however, I let her stay on her stomach and watched the monitor like a hawk for a few days, but she started liking it and sleeping very well!

yes, sometimes he rolls and freaks out, so I help him, but if he rolls on his stomach and falls asleep after some fussing I leave him. usually gets his longest naps that way

Ours started sleeping on his stomach 1.5 weeks ago and it’s been life changing (in the best way)

Thank you all so much for the reassurance! We had our first tummy night! It was nerve wrecking but we did it. It wasn’t any better sleep (yet) but I am sure we will get there :)
