Active Things to Do Indoors

Many people feel cooped up when it is rainy and want to do something indoors less sedentary than sitting on the couch. This first part of the list includes indoor activities in Orlando that will get your adrenaline pumping.

Here are eight ideas for active things to do indoors in Orlando.

1. Race Each Other at Andretti Indoor Karting

One of my favorite things to do in Orlando any day is race go-karts at Andretti! This is one of the best go-karting courses in Florida and you can race around the track as many times as you like.

In addition to go-karts, Andretti also has all sorts of stuff to do inside including laser tag, arcade games, and a ropes course that will entertain you on a rainy day.

2. Take an Aerial Yoga Class

Another way to get a unique workout indoors is to try aerial yoga. Though it may look intimidating, it is actually relatively easy and freeing to hang from silk ropes.

The Elevate Yoga Center offers aerial yoga classes every day of the week for any skill level.

3. Play Some Golf at TopGolf

Another indoor activity near Icon Park I love is TopGolf. Though it’s not entirely indoors, it is covered and will keep you out of the rain unless it is torrentially storming. The bays are also temperature controlled so very hot or cold days are comfortable.

You can visit for an hour or more and challenge your friends to all sorts of driving range games while getting food and drinks.

4. Attend a Match

With four major sports teams right in Orlando, this is the ideal place to catch a game and tickets are usually easy to come by. Head to the Amway Center to watch a basketball or hockey game, most months of the year

For those who have always wanted to try skydiving but are not ready to take the leap. iFly Indoor Skydiving on International Drives offers an easier way to try it!

Instead of jumping out of a plane, you get to feel like you are skydiving thanks to a wind tunnel. Anyone 3 years or older can try it and experience skydiving indoors!

6. Go Rock Climbing at Aiguille Rock Climbing Gym

If you are looking for a fun workout, rock climbing gyms are a great place to test your upper body strength and do some climbing. Aiguille Rock Climbing Center has both rock walls and bouldering walls that offer a variety of challenges.

7. Hit the Slopes with WinterClub Indoor Ski

When the weather outside is frightful in Orlando, it’s typically because of rain, not snow. However, you can get the snow day experience of your dream by trying an indoor ski or snowboarding lesson! WinterClub indoor ski offers an infinite slope (sort of like a treadmill) that will simulate going down a mountain.

You may have to book a lesson in advance, but if a rainy weekend is coming up, it can be the perfect place to splurge on a unique, indoor activity like this.

8. Skate the Ice at Ice Factory

Another indoor activity in Orlando that can pass for a winter day is going ice skating. Public skate is offered daily at Ice Factory for over an hour of ice skating.

You can get rentals and everything you need there to glide across the ice on a frosty rink.

Educational Indoor Attractions

My favorite way to enjoy the indoors on a rainy day in Orlando is to learn something new. There are so many intriguing museums all around the city offering a variety of exhibits for whatever your interest.

If you have time, classes are also a hands-on way to get experience trying a new skill. These next seven indoor activities in Orlando will teach you something on a rainy day.

17. Get Spooked Any Day of the Year at Mortem Manor

It does not need to be Halloween in Orlando for you to visit a haunted house! Everyone knows about the haunted mansion ride, but Mortem Manor offers a haunted experience outside the theme parks.

Performances do book up in advance occasionally, but it is worth checking for availability the day of.

19. Go to a Theme Park

Though I don’t love going to the Orlando theme parks in the rain, the crowds do tend to be less! If you have a good rain jacket, head to Universal Studios, Hollywood Studios, or Magic Kingdom.

These three parks offer the most indoor attractions, so you will not miss out if it is raining!

You can get a massage, facial, or treatment and then enjoy the lounge and hot tub after!

21. Escape from Prison at the Escape Game Orlando

Orlando is home to many escape rooms and even an escape hotel! One favorite is The Escape Game, where you must figure out how to break out of prison.

Even if you have done one before, there are always new challenges that make it worth checking out an escape room on a rainy day.

22. Catch a Show at the Dr. Phillips Performing Center

Orlando has some of the best theaters in the state, and Dr. Phillips Center in Orlando is an amazing place to see it. Though some shows sell out, you can often get last-minute tickets if you are looking for a fun time out on a rainy day.

Be sure to check the matinees, especially for an entertaining, indoor performance!

Another indoor thing to do at the Florida mall is take a visit to the American Girl doll store. One of the most popular is a tea party with sandwiches, tea, and a craft, but they also offer a café, a salon, and cookie decorating all themed to American Girl.

This special activity will light up any kids’ day even if it is dark and gloomy outside.

27. Use Your Imagination at Millie Moo’s Playground

If you have young kids, Millie Moo’s Playground is one of the best indoor Orlando things to do with them! This is a play place with all sorts of themed areas, a dance floor, motorized vehicles, and more!

This is another indoor Orlando activity that would work for families or adults, but I think kids will especially enjoy the light-up designs and easy-to-navigate courses.

For those with a sweet tooth, visit The Chocolate Museum & Café for an educational and decadent activity. You start by learning about the origins and history of chocolate, followed by seeing how chocolate is made and some remarkable sculptures made out of chocolate.

Of course, the tour ends with samples of all different kinds and a chance to purchase more in the café!

Know Before You Go: Orlando Indoor Attractions

I hope this guide helped you find some new and exciting indoor activities in Orlando! This city has a little something for everyone and personally, I have never been bored while here.

Whether you are a local or visiting, here are some things to keep in mind when looking for indoor things to do on a rainy day in Orlando.

  • Rainy days are frequent between June through October in Orlando. It is good to have some backup plans in case your outdoor activities get canceled due to inclement weather!
  • I also recommend these indoor activities for when the weather is too hot in Orlando! If you are tired of dealing with the heat, all these ideas have plenty of air conditioning.
  • If you are looking to visit any of the theme parks, make sure to look for Florida Resident deals! Kelly, this blog’s trusted travel agent, can help you find the best rates!
  • You will have to pay for parking in the city and near tourist locations. Pretty much most places in Downtown Orlando and on I-Drive have a small parking cost. If you are concerned, look it up ahead of time or take an Uber.
  • Avoid I-4 during rush hour as much as possible. This is where there is the worst traffic! Traffic in the city is bad all around between 4 PM to 7 PM most days though.
  • If you want a place to grab a meal after experiencing one of these attractions, check out my complete Orlando restaurant guide.
